Definition

Protection and Indemnity Club, a mutual insurance association that provides cover for its shipowner and charterer members against third-party liabilities arising from the operation of ships. P&I insurance covers crew injury, pollution, cargo damage, and collision liabilities that are not covered by hull and machinery insurance.
