How this index is computed

A tonnage-weighted composite of the four dry-bulk vessel classes below. Each class contributes a daily route basket in proportion to its share of global dry-bulk carrying capacity, so the composite moves with the whole market rather than any one segment. The Maritime republishes this licensed daily index under our own generic name; we never reproduce the licensor's brand or letter-code.
