The vessel proceeded to a another nearby anchorage position and the crew addressed the issue.
On 03 April 2022, the container vessel "MSC DON GIOVANNI", while under the conduct of a pilot, reported having sustained a propulsion failure while transiting the St. Lawrence River off Portneuf, QC. The vessel anchored in the Pointe Platon anchorage, the crew carried out repairs, and the vessel resumed its voyage.
On 23 January 2022, the container vessel "MSC DON GIOVANNI", reported being disabled due to a main engine scavenge fire, 31 nautical miles SSE of Port-Menier, QC. The crew were able to extinguish the fire. They carried out repairs and the vessel continued its voyage. No injuries were reported.
On 17 December 2018, the container vessel "MSC DON GIOVANNI", under the conduct of a pilot, reported a port windlass control issue in the St. Lawrence River while approaching the anchorage off Sorel, QC. The windlass control could not be repaired due to a lack of spare parts. The vessel was authorized to continue its voyage under the condition that it use tugs for berthing/unberthing.
On 22 April 2014, the MV "MSC DON GIOVANNI" experienced a steering gear control failure while transiting on the St. Lawrence River near Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, QC. There were no injuries or pollution reported.
On 20 May 2011, the "MSC DON GIOVANNI" experienced a blackout while transiting on the St. Lawrence River near Lanoraie, Quebec. The vessel reached the Lanoraie anchorage with the assistance of the tug "DUGA".
