Compliance
On 11 April 2008, while backing away from the St.Lawrence Cement Dock, Clarkson, Lake Ontario, the bulk carrier "JAMES NORRIS" struck the dock causing multiple frames to buckle and shell plate fractures. Winds were easterly 25kts, large swell.
On 09 Sept 2007, while approaching Clarkson Dock, Lake Ontario, the bulk carrier "JAMES NORRIS" ran aground forward. Vessel became free under own power, no apparent damage.
On 03 Nov 2006, at 0800, while backing the bulk carrier "JAMES NORRIS" to her loading position, at Bruce Mines, On., the V/L ran over a bouy. Three blades of the propeller were damaged.
On 28 November 2005 at 16:21the bulk carrier James Norris nearly struck bridge 21, Welland Canal when the bridge failed to open fully. The vessel stopped after going full astern and dropping one anchor.
On 09 Nov 2005, at 1015 while attempting to depart St.Lawrence Cement dock in Colborne,On, the bulk carrier "JAMES NORRIS" became pinned against the dolphins by high winds. Both vessel and dock sustained damage.
On 15 June 2004 at 1955 while berthing at Port Colborne, Ont. the bulk carrier "JAMES NORRIS" struck a dolphin with her port quarter.
On 22 August 2002, while departing the St.Lawrence Cement dock area at Colborne, Lake Ontario, the loaded self-unloading bulk carrier "James Norris" ran aground and was holed in #6 DB TK. V/l inspected and temporary repairs made.
At 1145, the "JAMES NORRIS" had a minor fire at the engine room casing, between the steam chest and the insulation material. Reportedly, there was some combustible material(oily rags) in the vicinity at the time. The fire was extinguished by V/L crew
