About This Vessel

USS Cache (AO-67) was a Type T2-SE-A1 Suamico-class fleet oiler of the United States Navy. The ship was built at the Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. in Chester, Pennsylvania as the SS Stillwater (hull number 247), under a Maritime Commission contract (USMC number 322). Launched on 7 September 1942, sponsored by Mrs. J. Cook; the ship was acquired by the Navy on 28 September 1942. After conversion at the Maryland Drydock Company, Baltimore, Maryland, she was commissioned on 3 November 1942 and reported to the Atlantic Fleet.
