Whilst proceeding down river on the St.Lawrence off Becancour on 24 June 04, the ALGOCEN sustained a main engine malfunction and the crew was required to drop anchor in emergency .
On 15 Dec 2003, while berthing Sarnia Elevator Dock, Sarnia ,Ont., the bulk carrier "ALGOCEN" struck and damaged 16m of dock face. V/L sustained a 1m crack above waterline at the stem. V/L repaired & inspected by TCMS & Lloyds.
A close quarters situation developed between the ALGOCEN and the fishing vessel LISA D No.1 off the Les Escoumins pilot station. The fishing vessel was no longer visible in the darkness due to an electrical failure of the navigation lights.
At 0550, 30 Sept 2000, the "ALGOCEN" was backing away from Sarnia Grain Elevator when the bow grounded lightly. Within 10 minutes the vessel freed herself. After inspection, no apparent damage was sustained and the vessel proceeded.
On 07 August at 1033 the laker "ALGOCEN", proceeding upbound, struck the tug "PHIL D" which was made fast to a dredger which was anchored. No pollution, very minor damaged.
