On 31 August 2013, the bulk carrier "BIRCHGLEN" observed an outflow of water between starboard holds no.6 and no. 7, 42 nm SSE of Sept Iles, Quebec. The vessel proceeded to Sept-Iles to make repairs. No pollution or injuries reported.
On 16 August 2012, the bulk carrier "BIRCHGLEN" experienced a main engine problem while downbound in the Welland Canal. Ontario. The vessel was secured at Wharf 16 for repairs.
On 05 November 2010, while upbound , Lake St. Clair above Peche Island, USA waters, the bulk carrier "BIRCHGLEN" shut down the main engine due to cooling problems. Vessel deployed an anchor for cautionary purposes. V/L underway a short time later.
On 11 June 2009, the upbound bulk carrier "BIRCHGLEN" briefly lost its pitch control while approaching St.Lambert Lock, Montreal Harbour, Quebec.
On 10 June 2007 off Gaspé, Quebec, the master of the west bound bulk carrier BIRCHGLEN report ingress of water in ballast tank no.5 starboard due to a crack. Damage is located between frames 119 & 120 and 3 metres from bottom.
On 15 June 2006, at 1802, the bulk carrier "BIRCHGLEN" suffered a main engine turbocharger problem on Lake Huron, near Sarnia and went to anchor in proximity to shipping lane. V/L towed to Goderich, Ontario for repairs arriving 17 June.
On 24 April 2006, the bulk carrier BIRCHGLEN experienced engines problems and anchored off Ile au Lièvre, Quebec.
On 20 May 05 at Port Cartier, Quebec, a fracture in way of the butt joint at the end of the rub rail was observed on the hull of the bulk carrier Birchglen. Temporary repairs under class supervision have been carried out.
