The vessel was anchored and the crew reported no damage. The vessel freed itself and proceeded to an anchorage off Maitland, ON, for further inspection.
On 14 November 2023, the bulk carrier "ALGOMA GUARDIAN" reported having sustained a total failure of its main engine's lube oil system on Lake Erie, ON. The vessel completed repairs while adrift, then resumed its voyage.
On 05 October 2022, the bulk carrier "ALGOMA GUARDIAN", while under the conduct of a pilot, reported a close quarters situation with the passenger vessel "NAVARK VOLKERAK" off Longueuil, QC.

On 27 December 2021, the bulk carrier "ALGOMA GUARDIAN" reported sustaining a steering gear pump issue in the St. Lawrence Seaway off Beauharnois, QC. The vessel proceeded to the anchorage in Pointe Fortier, QC to assess the problem and carry out repairs.
On 02 June 2019, the bulk carrier "ALGOMA GUARDIAN" reported a machinery failure while transiting Canal Welland, St. Catharines, ON. The vessel berthed in the canal to perform repairs.
On 17 May 2019, the bulk carrier "ALGOMA GUARDIAN" was reported disabled due to water in the fuel causing a loss of power while in the St. Clair River off Port Lambton, ON. The crew carried out repairs while the vessel was drifting and the vessel resumed its voyage. No injuries, damage, or pollution was reported.
