LRIT

Long Range Identification and Tracking, an international system for tracking vessels globally, adopted by the IMO as an amendment to SOLAS. LRIT requires ships to automatically transmit their identity, position, and date/time at six-hour intervals, enabling flag states and port states to monitor vessel movements for security and safety purposes.
