Definition

A specialised tanker built to transport liquid chemicals in bulk, fitted with coated or stainless-steel cargo tanks and sophisticated cargo-handling systems. Chemical tankers are classified as Type I, II, or III based on the hazard level of the cargoes they are permitted to carry.
